ADHD & Autism Therapy in Limerick

ADHD & Autism Psychotherapy in Limerick

(Online & In-Person Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy)

Living with ADHD or being autistic often means navigating a world that wasn’t designed with your brain in mind. Many adults spend years feeling misunderstood, questioning themselves, or wondering why life seems harder than it appears for everyone else.

Some people come to therapy after receiving a diagnosis. Others are exploring whether they might be neurodivergent. Many have attended therapy before but still felt that something important was being missed.

My approach is different.

Rather than expecting you to adapt to therapy, I adapt therapy to the way your brain works.

Together we’ll explore not only anxiety, stress or relationships, but also the neurodivergent experiences that often sit underneath them, including executive functioning difficulties, masking, Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), alexithymia, sensory processing, burnout, emotional regulation and nervous system overwhelm.

You won’t have to spend sessions explaining why everyday life feels harder than it looks. Many of the experiences neurodivergent adults describe are already familiar parts of my work. My role is to help you understand those experiences, reduce self-blame, and develop strategies that genuinely fit the way your brain works.

What ADHD & Autism Therapy Can Help With

Every person is different, but some of the most common areas we explore include:

  • Understanding ADHD or autism, whether you’re newly diagnosed or have known for years.
  • Executive functioning difficulties, including organisation, planning, decision paralysis and time management.
  • Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD) and emotional regulation.
  • Alexithymia and difficulty recognising or expressing emotions.
  • Managing sensory sensitivities and creating environments that support your wellbeing.
  • Understanding burnout, overwhelm and nervous system regulation.
  • Navigating relationships, communication and boundaries.
  • Reducing masking and building a more authentic life.
  • Addressing anxiety, depression or low self-esteem that may have developed alongside years of feeling misunderstood.
  • Letting go of internalised shame and ableism.

My Approach: Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy

Many ADHD and autistic adults come to me after having therapy that didn’t quite fit—not because therapy doesn’t work, but because the approach wasn’t adapted to the way their brain experiences the world.

I believe therapy should fit the person, not the other way around.

That means recognising experiences that are often overlooked in traditional therapy, including masking, sensory processing, executive functioning, RSD, alexithymia, burnout and nervous system regulation.

Understanding these experiences often helps people make sense of years of confusion, self-criticism and feeling different.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

Sensory-friendly environment

My Limerick practice has adjustable lighting and sound, is wheelchair accessible, and welcomes assistance dogs. Sessions can be adapted to meet your sensory needs.

Flexible communication

We work in the way that feels most comfortable for you. That might include conversation, visual explanations, written notes or practical strategies.

A pace that works for you

There is no pressure to “open up” before you’re ready. Therapy develops at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

Professional expertise combined with lived experience

Alongside my clinical training and specialist qualifications in ADHD and autism, I also bring lived experience of ADHD. That combination helps me recognise experiences that many neurodivergent adults have struggled to put into words for years.

How Sessions Work

Length: 60 minutes

Format: In-person in Limerick or online via secure video

Frequency: Weekly, fortnightly or as agreed

Fee: €150 per session

Our first session focuses on understanding your experiences, goals and current challenges. Together we’ll decide what support is likely to be most helpful.

Therapy may include psychoeducation, practical strategies, emotional processing, neurodivergent-informed CBT techniques, or a combination of approaches tailored to your individual needs.

Is This Right For You?

This approach may be right for you if:

  • You’ve recently been diagnosed with ADHD or autism.
  • You’re exploring whether you might be neurodivergent.
  • You’ve had therapy before but still felt misunderstood.
  • You don’t always know what you’re feeling until much later.
  • You don’t realise you’re overwhelmed until you’ve reached your limit.
  • You’re exhausted from masking or trying to fit in.
  • You replay conversations long afterwards.
  • Generic advice has never quite fitted the way your brain works.
  • You want practical strategies that genuinely work for you.

What You Can Expect

Sessions are collaborative, respectful and neurodiversity-affirming.

There is no expectation to mask, make eye contact, communicate in one particular way or become someone different.

The goal is not to fix who you are.

The goal is to help you understand how your brain works, recognise your strengths, reduce self-blame, and build a life that supports your wellbeing.

Many clients tell me this is the first time they’ve felt their neurodivergent experiences have been understood rather than overlooked. That understanding often becomes the starting point for meaningful and lasting change.
